The Current System for Supporting Individuals and their Families
The current system of services and supports for individuals with developmental disabilities provides the potential for services from birth through death. It is a complex system driven by the needs of each consumer and their family to live and be a part of their community whenever possible. The system's primary gatekeepers/intake points are the 21 Regional Centers that cover the entire state. All Individuals serve within the system need to be identified as eligible, with an identified developmental disability (or in the case of infants be identified as high risk for developing developmental disabilities).
