COVID-19 News

general COVID-19 UPDATES:

Please see our COVID-19 Protection Plan for important information on current safety protocols and policies.

With the rising cases of COVID-19 in California, Futures Explored is still requiring face masks to be worn in all our facilities, and vehicles, regardless of vaccine status or the county in which you reside.

Staff and participants in Alameda County are to follow the current county mask mandate while receiving support or working and have a face mask on when out in the community, on public transportation, and/or in other areas that are public spaces where people are congregating.

Participants: please share your most recent COVID-19 Vaccine Card with your staff. This is needed to determine what protocols to take in the event of an exposure on site.

Futures Explored will continue to adhere to all the directives given by Community Care Licensing, CA Regional Centers, CDC, and/or Department of Developmental Services. We will continue to monitor the current COVID-19 pandemic and regulations and will make changes accordingly to keep our staff, participants, and the community safe.

Effective August 2021, Futures Explored adopted the policy of mandating COVID vaccinations to safeguard the health of our staff, participants, volunteers, and visitors. This policy complies with all applicable laws and is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, California Department of Public Health, and local authorities, as applicable.

Program Updates

Futures Explored’s programs include: Personal Wellness, Community Connections, Supported Employment & Education, and Film & Media Studios. Program overviews and updates are below:

Personal Wellness Programs
● Futures ALIVE
● Garden Brentwood
● Garden Tri-Valley
● Alive East

Futures ALIVE is a program that includes frequent trips into the community, but also allows for extended use of the program facility daily. The program is located at 1140 Galaxy Way, Concord.

Garden Brentwood and Garden Tri-Valley re-opened facilities in June with a limited number of participants due to social distancing rules. Starting in July, we are able to move to full capacity. Please contact Angelique Goldberg, angeliquegoldberg@futures-explored.org, for information about returning to on site programs.

Alive East has given up our location in Antioch. A program since 1989, we are providing zoom and in-person services as we continue to secure a location. Stay tuned for more information. Please contact Angie Lee with any questions, angielee@futures-explored.org

Community Connections
● FUTURES Connections
● GO Group
● LIFE program

Futures Connections is a program which provides the opportunity for participants to be mostly out and about in the community each day. Limited use of Futures’ Community Hubs, such as the Artist’s Den, is available. Provision of personal care support is also limited and requires agreement from the support team that the individual’s personal care needs can be met within the scope of Connections services. Connections Central is located at 2150 John Glenn Drive, Suite 300, Concord; and Connections East is located at 4045 Lone Tree Way, Suite C, Antioch.

Go Group has given up our location in downtown Livermore. We do not have plans to acquire a new location currently. Instead, all our services and activities will occur at community locations. We have begun to develop partnerships with businesses and community groups. We welcome any leads or connections to businesses or locations that we can use for meet ups and drop off spots, activities, or trips.

The LIFE program has resumed weekly trips in Davis and Woodland and continues to provide Zoom classes.

Futures Day Program was closed on May 31st, 2021. Participants have the choice to attend either FUTURES Connections or Futures ALIVE or other Futures programs that provide the services and support needed. Should you have any questions about any of these programs, please contact, Leticia Wiesner, leticiawiesner@futures-explored.org

Supported Employment and Education
● Employment Training Program- East Bay ( new) and Sacramento
● Supported Employment/Tailored Day Service-East Bay and Sacramento

Employment Training Program—Bay Area! Employment Training Program (ETP) is a short term program designed to provide participants with the skills, tools, and hands on experience needed to gain Competitive, Integrated, Employment. In this program, participants will be supported to identify their desired job or career, hands on learning and experience which will give skills necessary to be successful in that career, and job search support to get a job! To learn more, contact Jose Escobar (925) 708-9766 or ask your Case Manager to email us a referral at intakespecialistba@futures-explored.org

Employment Training Program - Sacramento has welcomed limited participants back to our site as of July 15th! We have started with the Retail Track and Clerical Track returning twice a week for partial days. We will continue welcoming people back for longer time periods and more days each week over the next few months. Additionally, we are working diligently to re-develop volunteer and paid internship locations.

Supported Employment/Tailored Day Service - For much of the pandemic, we continued providing in person job coaching support to our participants in essential services. Our limitation on how much in person support we can provide at this time is based on a staffing shortage. We continue to provide virtual support for all participants.

In our TDS Education program in Sacramento, we have resumed community outings several times each week. Each outing lasts a few hours. Over the next few months, we plan to continue extending the outing times as well as resuming staff transport of participants. Should you have questions about these programs, please contact Lindsey Dyba, lindseydyba@futures-explored.org
